Dr. Brad Hinman
PhD, LPC, LMFT, CST, NCC

Dr. Brad Hinman is the Founder and Clinical Director of Hinman Counseling Services. With a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, he is licensed in Michigan as both a Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). He is also an AASECT-certified sex therapist with specialized expertise in compulsive sexual behavior, infidelity, sexual dysfunction, sexual trauma recovery, and LGBTQ+ support through life transitions.

 

For more than a decade, Dr. Hinman has guided individuals, couples, and families toward meaningful growth and healing. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that every person possesses inherent dignity, intelligence, and the capacity for transformation. He partners with clients through education, self-exploration, and empowerment, providing both expertise and compassionate presence along the way.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hinman is dedicated to advocacy and social justice within the counseling profession, reflecting his lifelong commitment to equality and dignity for all.Beyond his role at the practice, he values time with his wife of more than 38 years, Patty, their family, and their pets. His personal and professional life share the same foundation: fostering resilience, connection, and lasting change.

Patty Hinman
Office Manager

As Office Manager of Hinman Counseling Services, Patty is often the first point of contact for clients and plays an essential role in creating a welcoming, professional environment. She manages billing, insurance coordination, and building operations, ensuring that every detail of the practice runs smoothly.

Beyond logistics, Patty provides something equally important: a reassuring voice and a sense of care during what can be a vulnerable time for clients.Known for her attentiveness and generosity, Patty goes out of her way to brighten days with thoughtful gestures—whether offering encouraging words, preparing snacks for staff, or creating small comforts for clients. She believes that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference, and she carries this philosophy into every interaction at the practice.

Patty has been married to Dr. Brad Hinman for more than 38 years, and together they share a rich family life with two sons, a daughter-in-law, and a lively household that includes a dog, a cat, and three “grand dogs.” Outside of the practice, she enjoys quilting, crocheting, baking, and spending time in her garden. Patty’s dedication to family, creativity, and care for others mirrors the same values she brings to her role at HCS every day.

Jose Gonzalez II
MA, LPC, NCC, Sex Therapist

José Gonzalez II is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan, an out-of-state Telehealth provider for Florida, and a certified sex therapist. He earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and completed the Sexual Health Certificate Program (SHCP) at the University of Michigan. He is also a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NCC).At Hinman Counseling Services, José specializes in working with men experiencing out-of-control sexual behavior, as well as concerns related to sexual dysfunction, desire discrepancy in couples, and other challenges in sexual health. He believes clients already possess the tools to change their lives and sees his role as guiding and empowering them to thrive.In addition to his clinical work, José co-hosts the Wet Dreamz Podcast, where he extends his commitment to reducing stigma and opening honest conversations about sexual health and recovery. This platform reflects his passion for education, advocacy, and making complex topics approachable for a broader audience.José has been married since 2010 to his wife and is a proud father of two children. Fatherhood has deepened his patience, empathy, and emotional insight—qualities that enrich both his personal life and his clinical practice.

Robert Sepulveda
MA, LPC, NCC

Robert Sepulveda is a bilingual (Spanish-English) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in Indiana. He holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NCC). In addition, he is a Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician (CSAYC) and is currently pursuing certification in sex therapy.Robert specializes in working with sexually maladaptive youth, a population often met with stigma and exclusion. His work focuses on helping clients stop harmful behaviors, develop healthy and age-appropriate relationships, and reconnect with their families. Supporting young people through these challenges has been one of the most meaningful aspects of his professional career.In addition to his work with youth, Robert provides counseling for men navigating out-of-control sexual behaviors and pornography addiction. He approaches therapy with compassion, accountability, and a focus on equipping clients to build lasting, positive change.Robert is deeply committed to expanding his expertise and delivering high-quality services to his community. His dedication reflects both a professional and personal belief in the power of growth, restoration, and resilience.

Yulian Tinoco
MA, LLC

Yulian Tinoco is a bilingual Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC) in the State of Michigan, providing therapy in both English and Spanish. He is a client-centered and sex-positive clinician who is dedicated to supporting individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds.Yulian’s approach is rooted in the belief that therapy is not only for those facing mental illness but also for anyone seeking deeper self-understanding and growth. He emphasizes the importance of self-love as a foundation for personal development, helping clients learn to embrace themselves with compassion and confidence. His work is especially meaningful with those who feel unheard or misunderstood, as he provides a safe space for clients to feel seen, valued, and respected.At Hinman Counseling Services, Yulian partners with clients to explore identity, relationships, and personal fulfillment. He takes joy in guiding individuals and couples toward greater connection and resilience, viewing therapy as a powerful avenue for transformation.Fluent in Spanish, Yulian also ensures that language is never a barrier to care, making counseling accessible to a wider community. His practice reflects both his professional dedication and his genuine passion for helping people live fuller, more authentic lives.

Ashley Ellis
MA, LLPC

Ashley Ellis is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) in the State of Michigan with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a client-centered therapist who works primarily with children ages seven and older, guiding them through challenges with compassion, patience, and creativity.Ashley believes that every child has a voice worth hearing and is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive space where young clients can express themselves freely. She views her role as both a listener and a bridge, helping children navigate life’s difficulties while empowering families to better understand and support their growth.Her approach is holistic, considering each child’s broader environment—including school, friendships, and family relationships—to foster balance and resilience. Ashley values the principle that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and she tailors her work to meet the unique needs of each child and family.At Hinman Counseling Services, Ashley is honored to walk alongside children and their families as they build confidence, develop coping strategies, and move toward healthier, more balanced lives. Annie Stark
MA, LLC, CTP

Annie Stark is a Limited Licensed Counselor (LLC) and Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) in the State of Michigan. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Andrews University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Her advanced training reflects a deep commitment to expanding her expertise and providing clients with high-quality, evidence-based care.  Annie works with children ages eleven and older, as well as teens and young adults who may feel overwhelmed, unheard, or uncertain about how to navigate life’s challenges. She creates a safe, supportive environment where young people can express themselves openly, explore their emotions, and discover healthy ways forward.

Her approach is both client-centered and solution-focused, meaning she listens closely and helps each individual identify their strengths, voice, and next steps. Annie believes therapy should be as unique as the person—sometimes reflective, sometimes practical, and at times even creative or fun.  At Hinman Counseling Services, Annie partners with clients and families to build resilience, confidence, and stronger connections. She values the courage it takes to begin therapy and considers it an honor to walk alongside each young person on their journey of growth and healing. 

Alvarico Moss
LLPC, NCC

As a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC), Rico is passionate about supporting individuals and couples as they navigate life’s challenges and pursue meaningful growth. He has always had a deep passion for people and has had the privilege of working in various fields with individuals from all walks of life—rich or poor, rural or urban, successful or striving. Through these experiences, he has learned that everyone, at some point, needs a little light of guidance to attain or maintain mental well-being and become the best version of themselves, whatever that may look like for them.

His approach to counseling is deeply client-centered, grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration. He strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to explore their stories and strengths. He values the unique perspectives each person brings, including their view of spirituality, and he welcomes the integration of spiritual or faith-based elements into therapy when it aligns with the client’s goals.
