Dr. Brad Hinman
PhD, LPC, LMFT, CST, NCC, Sex Therapist
Practice Owner

I have been married for over 35 years to the mother of my two grown sons.  I am devoted to personal, political, and professional activism for social justice and equality for all people.  I also love to spend as much time as I can with my family.  I believe that all people are inherently intelligent and worthy of respect and dignity.  I also believe change comes through education and self-exploration, and the power to change lies within the individual.  It is my honor and privilege to join with you as you embark on a journey of change and growth.

I am a nationally certified sex therapist and the majority of my clients are coming to me for sexual issues such as pornography addiction, affairs, sexual dysfunction, sexual pain and discomfort, sexual desire discrepancy, recovery from sexual trauma, coming out support, transition support, and many other issues. After sharing office space with other counselors for years, I opened my private practice in January, 2012 and enjoy the wide variety of clients this area offers.  My clients have ranged in age from 6 to 76 years old, which illustrates my belief that you are never too old (or young) to change!

Patty Hinman
Office Manager

I’ve been married to my best friend, Dr. Brad Hinman, for over 35 years, have two handsome sons, beautiful daughter-in-law, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 grand dogs. I’m passionate about animals, my family, and friends. I spend my downtime cross stitching, quilting, crocheting, puzzle books, working in my yard, and baking. The things I love about my job are meeting new people, talking on the phone whether to potential new clients or insurances, and the opportunity to give them a kind voice and hope for when they’re distressed. I love doing unexpected things that might make someone’s day a little brighter, like making food or buying snacks that the staff can eat and sometimes even for the clients. Showing that you care about someone, appreciating the work they do, or just being a servant to others can make a difference in someone’s life.

Being the office manager means I’m the voice on the phone or in person, that people speak with first. After talking and gaining insight into what they need, I can then connect them with one of our therapists to set an appointment. As the Billing Manager, I submit claims for those using insurance and process payments as well. Some of my other duties include making sure supplies are stocked, handling mail, housekeeping, planning special events, putting staff parties together, interior decorator, and gardener, as I want the outside of our practice to be as inviting as the inside.

Jose Gonzalez II
MA, LPC, NCC
Clinical Supervisor

I am a License Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Michigan and a Sex Therapist. I completed my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2012. I also completed the Sexual Health Certificate Program (SHCP) from the University of Michigan School of Social Work from 2018-2019. My specialties include men with out-of-control sexual behavior, sexual dysfunction, couple’s desire discrepancy, and other sexual health related issues. I truly believe that my clients have the tools within themselves to improve their situation, and I am just a small part in guiding them to a life where they can thrive.

I have been married since 2010 to my lovely wife, and have two children, Levi (7) and Arianna (4), who are exact opposite personalities. Being a father has taught me to engage and manage my emotions, increase my patience, and allow my kids to be independent selves. This has helped in my journey as a clinician and as a person. I truly have a passion for helping others and being the person that people turn to, especially with topics such as sex and sexuality that carry so much taboo and stigma.

Robert Sepulveda
MA, LPC, NCC
I am a Bi-lingual (Spanish - English) licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Michigan. I graduated from Andrews University with an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  In my counseling program I gained practice as an ethical and multicultural counselor. My master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling has allowed me to gain valuable insight while I provided counseling to diverse populations throughout my professional career since earning my degree.  Most notably, my experience working with sexually maladaptive youth at a psychiatric hospital is what caused me to develop a curiosity and passion for sex therapy.  I worked with a population that often faces social contempt and exclusion due to the nature of their offenses. During my time there, I was able to become a Credentialed Sexually Abusive Youth Clinician (CSAYC). My work focused on helping patients stop their sexually abusive behaviors and create healthy and developmentally appropriate relationships. While challenging, I found this work to be extremely rewarding. Being able to help youth navigate through their harmful sexual behaviors and reunite them with their families has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my professional career to date.

My work at a juvenile detention center providing psychoeducation to young men focused on teaching principles and tools needed to develop healthy relationships, including recognizing and respecting the rules of consent, and learning about their own sexual health. Additionally, I have been working with men who express out-of-control sexual behaviors and suffer from porn addiction.  Engaging with people on deeper, and often intimate, personal levels is why I am currently pursuing a certification in sex therapy; I want to continue to expand my knowledge and provide quality services in order to help make a difference in my community.  It would be an honor to work with you.
Rico Moss

I believe that we are all given the opportunity to help others in this life, and though my journey has just begun, I have gained  experience in utilizing therapy tools to assist you on your journey such as emotional focused therapy, solution focused therapy and family systems therapy. I am currently working toward my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. I am interning both at Hinman Counseling in Berrien Springs and Paddock Counseling in Cadillac. As an intern, I am being supervised by Jose Gonzalez II MA, LPC, NCC, Sex Therapist & Licensed Professional Counselor who will oversee my work and cases.

I have always had a passion for people and had the privilege of working in various fields, with different types of people from different walks of life. Everyone, at some point or another, needs a little light of guidance for their mental well-being; to be the best version of themselves.  I understand the havoc that poor mental health can wreak on the life of someone and how it can affect those closest to them.  Mental, spiritual and physical health intermingle in one’s journey toward holistic wellness. My purpose is to inspire people to live a holistic life and to guide them.  My goal is to create a safe environment for clients to explore their best self. My perspective of counseling is always client centered so I always take into account your view of spirituality and if you wish to incorporate that into therapy.

Yulian Tinoco
MA, LLC

I am a bilingual LLC (Limited License Counselor) for Hinman Counseling Services. I am a client-centered, and sex-positive clinician who enjoys helping those who feel unheard and misunderstood. I am dedicated to working with individuals from all backgrounds.  Couples and families are other groups I enjoy working with because I love love!  I also believe that one’s self-love plays a big factor in their personal growth, so helping individuals learn how to love themselves brings me joy.  ¡Tambien hablo español!

I firmly believe that although not everyone may have a mental illness, everyone does have mental health to which therapy can be a great avenue to discover new things about yourself that you may not have known before.
